Day #6
It was a bit like we time-travelled today. From the castles of the 12th century to the inside of houses of the 18th-19th century where Jean-Jacques Rousseau was a regular guest of honor, we got to see amazing tapestries, paintings and other artifacts such as dusty playing cards and chess games, and at times, it really felt like we were just back to those time periods.
The group was praised by our guide for being charming, polite and fun, although we did have to ask Becca and Anna (D'Eramo) to keep their singing to a lower level on the bus, because the driver was starting to consider driving off a bridge to make it stop. A quote from our guide: "they are absolutely great...but a bit loud." As a result, Becca has been trying to improve her noise level so that we don't get kicked out of the castle of Versailles tomorrow. Kudos to her.
Anna (Baxter) & Victoria were convinced that a museum/house we visited was haunted. We did tell them the "voice" they heard was just a TV for visitors, but it didn't do much to change their minds.
Kenny has been helping out his peers understanding French these past few days, and he seems ready to become a professional interpreter. Or we may all become perfumers, because after learning how to make perfume today, some of us got to make a pretty good one. Except Nicole, whose perfume smelled a lot like the inside of a bathroom stall. But according to our perfume teacher, it does take 3 weeks for the perfume to become itself, so the bathroom might turn into a beautiful rose before we know it.
Tomorrow, le château de Versailles, we should get some great pictures.
